After stuffing ourselves at Falafel Drive-In, we heading elsewhere for libations. We opted for an inside seat, because we didn’t want to talk above the loud band playing outside. Also, it was a bit chilly at that point.
The Dragon got a few beers as usual, but we also sampled 5 Schnäpse (German plural for Schnaps). So delicious!
• Edel Kirsch Liquer – sweet cherry juice!
• Goldwasser – minty, with a shadow of anise, and flecks of gold leaf
• Jagertee – tasted so festive!
• Kirschwasser – like the edel kirsch, but clear and more dry and bright
• (a pear one, the name I don’t know) – sweet pear juice, no alcohol taste
They were served in tiny glasses (I wish I schnapped a photo). Our pal commented it was like tapas, which led to the idea of a Schnapas party!
We had a good time sharing random stories and such. At about 10:45 or so, the speaker hidden near the ceiling started blaring some Van Halen and other such busy music. So much for avoiding talking over a loud band. The poor little speaker sounded like it was on it’s last leg, which made the music sound worse. We looked up and noticed the clientele had changed completely. All the 50-somethings were replaced by 30- and 40-somethings, many of the women in animal print, coincidentally. That was our cue to leave.
Can’t wait to go back to try the food and order more Schnaps!
